Why does a concept of an alien, incomprehensible intelligence such as Stanislaw Lem’s Solaris reverberate through so much media? Listening to a description of the book, I can connect to so many disparate stories, but is that because all of those authors found inspiration in that story or that they share the same inspiration as Lem?
