The days of lonely old hermit farts collecting up things on the internet for you are passing, because most of the time we can’t find anything online worth passing on because social media buries the cries of artists and real conversation happens in private spaces now, and nobody tells us things. This is fine. It’s just change.
On the one hand, this is a bit aggravating to me, personally, because I crave the ability to browse without a sense of demand, i.e., an interaction with another human that invites a response. My broken brain does not allow for “optional” responses.
I genuinely miss when Facebook showed actual posts from friends that you could comment on at leisure, possibly prompting a chat. But I also understand the site’s current direction as a service provider rather than message board: the former no doubt pays higher fees.
